August Newsletter & CHA Review

The last two weeks have been absolutely crazy around here!!  Jack, Lori and I all headed to Chicago for CHA.  That was definitely an adventure!  On top of the CHA craziness of ordering and oogling all of the new products, we had a trip to the emergency room and a laptop bag left on the airport shuttle.  No worries, everyone is fine and the laptop has been recovered (thank goodness and now to back up all of those pictures!!!) but it was definitely more excitement than we had anticipated.  Then it was back to work and starting to renovate our soon to be new home!  The painting has started and the floorplans are being tweaked... it's going to be a crazy few weeks around here!

If you somehow missed our last newsletter, then you missed the news that we are MOVING!  We aren't moving very far though, just across the street, but to a much more suitable location.  We are so excited about this fresh new start!  It's going to be awesome!  Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, September 11th for our Grand Re-Opening celebration.  Meanwhile, we are still open in our current location and have new products arriving already, as well as a lovely CHA Preview wall full of goodies that will be coming soon.  So be sure to stop by and check out what's new, what's on sale and what's coming soon.

Now for the part you have all been waiting for...

CHA Review

What would a trip to CHA be without our much anticipated CHA Review?  I know it's a bit late this time, but when you have a laptop taking the scenic way home, it's hard to get much work done.

Bo Bunny:  I believe this was our first stop of the show.  Another amazing release from Bo Bunny and it's all coming home to the Turtle!  Six gorgeous new lines of papers, stickers, chipboard, buttons and more!  Olivia is a line full of colour and lots of flowers.  It's perfect for girls, moms, and grandmas.  It's just a pretty line and must have.  My favourite piece is the cameo die cut paper, yummy!  Cambridge is the masculine line in this release and reminds me very much of a British/Harry Potter influence.  Learning Curve is Bo Bunny's take on "back to school" and they did a great job!  This line has great colours and patterns and a nice blend of styles.  Whoo-ligans is one of my favourite Halloween lines of the show.  Super cute and fun, and perfect for all your cute little Halloween critters this year!  And then we have the Christmas and Winter lines.  Noel is a traditionally classic Christmas line.  The colours are the subdued green and red with an old fashioned Santa Claus.  Perfect for the traditional Christmas lover.  Winter Joy is the fabulous winter line with turquoise, lime green and a touch of purple.  This is my kind of line!  Lots of fun and cute patterns and, of course, snowflakes!  As always, Bo Bunny does not disappoint and we were sure to nab these amazing lines.

Copic:  We are still trying to resuscitate Bev after she found out we are bringing in the FULL Sketch line of Copic markers as well as their new Colour Swatch Book and Blending Paper.  Enough said!

Crate Paper: It's been awhile since we have had Crate Paper and I couldn't resist two of their new lines.  School Spirit and Snow Day were just too fabulous to pass up! I just love the eclectic colours and whimsical designs of Snow Day. The snowman is so cute, he just makes me smile.  School Day is great for kids of all ages and offers a toned down colour palette for those who don't want bright primary colors.  Both lines come with great embellishments and 6x6 paper pads for you card makers out there!

Echo Park: One of our favourite "new" companies!  We have ordered their new Halloween line (which has already shipped) as well as two Christmas lines.  Halloween Echo Park style, gotta love it!  The two Christmas lines are absolutely perfect.  They did one "traditional" line and one "non-traditional" line.  Lori loved the traditional and I loved the non-traditional, perfect, something for everyone!

Fancy Pants:  We love Fancy Pants and they had yet another wonderful release!  Four new yummy lines - Happy Together, Lilac House, It's Your Day and Tradition.  Happy Together is my favourite from this release, loving the blues and browns!  The patterns are gorgeous and so is the colour palette. It just makes me happy!  Lilac House has a great feminine colour palette and more gorgeous designs.  It's Your Day is a bright and colourful line, perfect for birthdays and other celebrations.  It comes complete with an adorable little penguin (which, unfortunately, can't be seen in the sampler below).  Tradition is Fancy Pants' take on Christmas and, as usual, they have outdone themselves.  Great colour combinations and designs, with something for everyone.

Glitz Designs:  We have two new paper lines coming from Glitz Designs - Love Nest and Hoopla.  Both lines have a fantastic vintage style and great colour palettes.  Love Nest is great for the hopeless romantic. Hoopla has a more fun and vibrant look with its lime green and turquoise colours, complete with a zebra print!  We also grabbed all of the colours of mini alpha stickers that everyone loves.

Imaginisce:  We went a little crazy at the Imaginisce booth, but that's what happens when a company has such an awesome release!  We have 4 fabulous new paper lines coming, as well as the I-Rock line.  Cottage Christmas is another amazing Imaginisce Christmas line.  They do Christmas like no one else and it is usually the most popular Christmas line that we carry!  Apple Cider is gorgeous with its warm earth tones and fun fall designs. B-Day Bash is a great birthday line that everyone is dying to get their hands on.  The embellishments to this line are awesome and definitely compliment the fabulous papers. Enchanted is the second installment in the princess line from Imaginisce.  Lots of cute princess patterns and yes we made our request for the little princes!  Now, if you haven't seen the I-Rock, then watch for some demos coming up at the store once it arrives.  It's a nifty little tool for heat setting bling to your projects!  Add bling to layouts, cards, albums and more with this great tool and lots of accessories, too!

Jillibean Soup:  We picked up 4 new paper lines from Jillibean, along with journaling sprouts, cardstock stickers and other accessories!  Always a fun time at Jillibean and always fun papers too!  We picked up Atomic Soup - for the math geek in all of you (this line will make Laura a very happy Turtle!!). We also got the hugely requested Monster Stew because they are just too darn cute!  I loved Pasta Fagioli. The colours and patterns were so fun, check out the funky cameras below!  Last but not least is Summer Squash, perfect for summer or spring photos, great colours in this line too!  As you know, Jillibean always has fun add-ons like their awesome corrugated letters and shapes, as well as fun sugar picks.  MmmMmm Good!

Moxxie: We picked up lots of great papers at Moxxie.  Joys of the Season is a great mix of traditional and non-traditional Christmas colours and patterns.  Shades of Autumn is just plain gorgeous with its earth tones and lovely patterns.  For all of those various dance photos, there is Luv 2 Dance with papers for several genres of dance.  Noteworthy is great for school band, musicals, drama club and more!  It's Your Day is a bright and colourful birthday line, great for layouts or cards. Off to the Parks is a Disney inspired line, so if you have some Disney photos or Princess photos, this line is just for you!  And of course we ordered lots of the fun 6x6 die cut papers!

My Little Shoebox: We chose 3 new lines from MLS - Simple Life, Green and Holly Jolly.  Simple Life is a cute little farm line, perfect for those trips to the farm, the petting zoo or if you're from the St. Jacobs area, your own backyard!  Green is a cute outdoors line with trees, mushrooms and the cutest little snail!  Just perfect for photos of the kids playing outside, digging in the dirt or picking up bugs and critters.  Holly Jolly is, of course, Christmas and cute as can be!  We also ordered 30 colours of mini alphabet stickers!  We know you can't get enough of them so we made sure to get every colour.

My Mind's Eye:  This is another booth that we were very naughty in because we ordered it ALL!  Six new lines at MME and we loved them all - Lost & Found, Alphabet Soup, Blackbird, Haunted, Holly Jolly and I Believe.  Lost & Found is a larger line made up of 4 mini lines (Portabello Road, Madison Avenue, Market Street and Union Square) and the papers and embellishments are absolutely stunning.  Alphabet Soup comes in two parts with one for girls and one for boys.  Blackbird and Haunted were my two absolute favourite Halloween lines of the entire show!  Blackbird is funky and colourful, while Haunted is a Kraft paper line with black printing and gives a real eerie feel.  Love them both!!  Holly Jolly is a more traditional, old fashioned Christmas line, while I Believe is a more modern line with its mix of colours and patterns.  We are definitely excited to add MME to our list of manufacturers!

Paper House: Restocks of all of your faves as well as a few new lines including Girls' Night Out and Fall.

Prima:  I think this was our most requested release of the show and YES we ordered it!  Five great new lines - So Cute, Jack N Jill, Fairy Flora, Paisley Road and Road Trip.  Plus lots of great flowers, lace and some other goodies. I think this is the best release of paper that Prima has ever done!

3 Bugs In A Rug: Three super cute new lines from 3 Bugs - North Pole, Snow Much Fun and Tool Time. We fell in love with the Santa and Elves in the North Pole line. So perfect for pictures with Santa and opening presents Christmas morning.  Of course, how could we pass up the adorable penguins in the Snow Much Fun line, great for photos of playing in the snow.  Tool Time is a great boys line full of trucks, tools and even robots!  These lines should be arriving very shortly!

We R Memorykeepers:  As you know, we get new monthly releases from We R and those are going to continue with some awesome lines coming in soon.  The next three lines will be Maple Grove, White Christmas and Merry January.  We also restocked their fabulous albums, as well as grabbing the new Sew Easy line!  What a fun tool!  This allows you to add stitching to your layouts, cards and other paper crafts without having to use a machine or freehand!  The tool has 6 interchangeable tips available to offer a wider variety of stitches.  We can't wait to get our hands on it!

We also, of course, ordered from American Crafts, BasicGrey, Pebbles, The Paper Company, SEI, Ranger, Bazzill and more!  We'll keep you posted on arrivals of new product.  Always check Facebook for the most up-to-date arrival information.

August Design Team Sneak Peeks

So many products to play with so little time!  This month we are focusing on two gorgeous product lines:  Echo Park and Bo Bunny!  Our designers can't get enough of either line!  They are fabulous to work with and never disappoint.

Heather and Tanya played with Echo Park Summertime and Walk In The Park.  Heather got creative with her QuicKutz tool and made a fabulously dimensional page that is just stunning.  Tanya got playful with QuicKutz too this month and used her cupcake liner in a super fun way.  Be sure to check back, or the gallery on Turtle Soup, for more amazing projects from these talented ladies!
